What a lousy weekend this way. Saturday I went to State 8 Motorcycles to buy a Vulcan 750 for Skidplate, but now I think Sate 8 is on the boycott list. The bike they had advertised had a dead battery and I don’t think it would have started with a jump because judging from the plates it had been sitting for at least three years. Then he gave me a price which was $1,000 higher than what was in the advertisement. When I asked why the price was so much higher than what was in the advertisement he told me they already sold the one in the ad. I pulled a copy of the ad out of my pocket and the stock numbers matched! He told me if I put some money down they would see if they could get it started. Oh well, two hours of driving for nothing. I spend all day Sunday working on the Vstrom. I put a cigarette lighter jack under the seat and installed a voltmeter/thermometer/timer thing so I know how cold I really am. I cleaned, adjusted, and lubed the chain and changed the oil. I still need to put new brake pads on and change the brake fluid, but I got lazy and came inside to watch the superbike racing. This coming Sunday, May 1, we are going to ride to Harding Park Cycles in Canton. They are having an open house and are supposed to have free food and prizes and the Starboyz are supposed to be doing demonstrations. Maybe they will give Tank a good price on some new tires because Tanks tires are soon going to be showing belts! I have changed the background on the Future Rides section for those who can’t figure out how to not print backgrounds.

It looks like the weather is turning bad and the weekend is really going to stink, so we are moving the ride to Pymatuming from the 24th to the 30th. Hopefully summer will be back by then. We had a really nice ride on the 17th to Pittsburg. We rode down to East Liverpool with the Struthers guys and then we split off and headed to Pittsburg. I’ll bet those guys would have gone to Pittsburg instead of Mountaineer if they had known we were going to end up at Hooters. Check pictures from the ride here.
bill- not davis and I took a ride into West Virginia today and it got a little weird. Read about it here.
I notice ABATE has their events list for 2005 online now so here is a link to this site. From this I got the dates for a few more of the rides we wanted to attend this year and have added them to our future rides section. I proclaim that winter and cold winter will end on March 26th. I am going riding that day. If the weather still stinks I intend to pretend the weather has improved and ride anyway. I have also added a couple new videos today and over the next couple of days I will be adding quite a few motorcycle sounds in the video area.
Tonight I was doing some research for good roads and I found something interesting. I found a listing that said route 555 from Zanesville, OH to the river is the best road in Ohio. While looking at the Mountainfest web site I saw that Rt. 50 in West Virginia was voted the fourth best road in the country to ride. As it turns out, 555 meets 50 at the border. I got an idea that this could be a great ride, but it will be a long ride. It comes out to about 500 miles with a lot of it on two lane road. Even so, Streets a Trips says we can do this ride in about 9 hours. Add in an hour for breakfast, an hour for lunch, and an hour for dinner. Leaving at 6:00AM should get us back around 6:00PM. Let me know if anyone is interested in trying this one.
