Here is some video of us taking the cheeseburger challenge.  We opted for the “small” two pound burger.  If we could eat it all the reward was we only had to pay half price for the meal and we got a free T-shirt.

I am just plain lazy

Ok, I admit it.  I have really been slacking with the update.  The delay is not entirely because I am lazy, although that really is a big part of it.  My computer was all screwed up so I spend a day trying to fix it.  That did not work out so I spent the next day re-installing Windows.  I have also been a little bogged down with that whole “going to work every day for 8 1/2 hours” thing.  We are leaving for Deals Gap in two weeks and I still have a suspected plugged up fuel filter and have not got around to checking it yet.  Today after work I went straight to the garage to clean and lube my chain (the last time I lubed my chain I was in Colorado!) and I found a nail in my back tire!  Plus Pikes Peak was a really big trip.  We were only gone a week, but I am telling you we got in a months worth of sightseeing.  It took a lot of time to sort through and edit the video, and it even took me a little while to choose which pictures I was going to put on the web site.  I actually have nearly 500 pictures from the trip and I just can’t post them all.  Since I still don’t have the update done I have posted the videos.

Well, the Pikes Peak ride is over and it really was great.  Some even referred to it as “a life changing experience”.  I will eventually post the full details of the trip including pictures and video, but I am still sifting through all the pictures and video to try to organize it in a way that it will all make sense.  It really was a very eventful trip and it is hard to remember all the things I want to include.  I finished editing the video I took of the ride to the top of Pikes Peak this evening so if you want to see that you can click here.  One of the most common questions people are asking me is if Deals Gap remains “My Favorite Place”.  I have to honestly say that the scenery in Colorado really does beat out the Smoky Mountains, but that is the only thing that edges them out.  The roads in Colorado are not nearly as fun to ride as they are around the Gap, and we really did not see a lot of motorcycles in Colorado.  So yes, Deals Gap is still the best!  The answer to the second most asked question is:  “Yes, my ass did hurt really, really bad when I arrived in Colorado.”

Ride to the top of Pikes Peak

Here is onboad video I took of the trip to the top of Pikes Peak.  It is edited, but it is still a pretty long video, and it is probably pretty boring unless you are really, really interested in finding out what the road is like.

I had really high hopes for this ride and it turned out to be even better than I had imagined. We had ups and downs but it really was a great experience and one that we will never forget.

We broke the trip into threes: three days to get there, three days to see Colorado, and three days to get home.

The ride out was actually kind of fun. You know, one of the best parts of these trips is meeting people on the road. I don’t know if these people really are as nice as they seem – maybe it is only because our friendship only lasts 10 minutes and we don’t have enough time to piss each other off -, but I really do enjoy and have some great memories of some of the people we have met. Below you see BMW Al. He almost had me convinced to buy a BMW.
