Ride With Tank

There is a new year coming so I am working on a new look for the web site.  I guess if the weather is cold and I can not ride I can kill some time working on the web site.  We have been lucky to get a lot of riding in the last few weekends but the bikes will probably be in the garage for quite a while now.  I took a ride over to Pennsylvania on November 20 and found a really nice dirt road that runs along the Allegheny River.  I found an abandoned railroad tunnel along this road that was pretty cool so I took this picture of it.

We are so lucky next year that the superbikes are coming to Mid Ohio twice!  The usual weekend after the Vintage Days, plus a new event at the end of September which is the last race of the year and will be billed as the Superbike Shootout.  Of course, by that time Matt Mladin will probably have the points he needs to win the championship even if he does not run the race, but it will be good to get a chance to see them twice.

I am giving the forum another try.  I did not like the old forum very much, so I came up with this new system.  I am going to give it a couple of months again and if nobody uses it I will delete it again!

Well, summer just will not quit this year!  Yesterday Mark planned a ride that turned out to be quite excellent.  We took a wrong turn but it turned out to be good because we found a very excellent road.  556 was very recently repaved and all I can say is WOW!  It is going to rank in my top 10. When I realized we were going to be near Sistersville I talked Mark into running down there and taking the Sistersville Ferry across the river.  This ride was worthy of pictures, so click here to see pictures of the ride.  I took a exciting video of the ferry ride – click here to see it!

It has been a while since I last updated!  There have been a few rides, but I did not take any pictures on any of them.  I took a ride down 164 a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty nice.  Last weekend Jim and I went down to West Virginia and rode US250.  I really do love that road, it is pretty hard to beat.  The next day Skidplate and I rode down and we visited Wheeling and checked out the casino, Cabelas, and rode around checking out the Christmas lights at the park. 

I only had one regret in my trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway:  I never got a picture of the “Sudden Curve” sign.  Yesterday I searched for it on the internet and found a picture a guy had taken of this sign!  Click here to see it!  I think the sign is supposed to scare you into slowing down, but we just thought it was too funny!  I found the picture at this website.  It was kind of funny looking at his parkway pictures because it was just like looking at mine, but with different people in them!

Pretty crappy weather this weekend, so I have taken some time to add links to getting free maps.  These maps are produced by the states themselves and are usually quite excellent.  They are totally free and do not even require you to pay shipping.  I have added this in the information section that can be accessed from this link or by clicking information on the side bar.
