Got some riding in!

Posted on by 0 comment

Well, the last few days have been really great.

Sunday I took a ride with Skidplate, Passinthru, and Jason down to Cabelas. It was a great ride and the weather was nearly perfect. It is so nice to get out again!

Today I went to my first bike night of the year! I ran into a guy I used to work for named Andy who I found out is now riding a Harley! It was great to see him and I hope we can hook up for a few rides this year.

I am starting a new site for pictures that I take at bike nights. All I plan on doing is hanging out and taking pictures of anything that I think would make an interesting picture. The address for the site is:

So far the one tonight at the Ice House is the only thing posted, but as summer rolls on there should be lots more added. To see the pictures I took tonight click here!

First great weekend of 2008!

Ok, people!  This is not a drill!  The first good weather weekend of 2008 has begun!  I can’t believe it took so long to get here!

I managed to get out a little bit a few days ago, and finally got a picture of my new bike out in the wild!

I have to say, I really think this is a pretty motorcycle.  It has been killing me to look at this thing every day sitting in the garage and not be able to ride it.  It still only has just over 600 miles on it, but that is going to change starting this weekend!  Sunday I am planning on taking a trip to Cabelas so there will be pictures posted when I return!  If you want to tag along find the details by clicking here.

Winter is totally freaking me out.

Posted on by 0 comment

Well, I am going to announce that I am officially totally fed up with winter.  I just can’t take it anymore.  I have had all the cold, snow, and ice that I can possibly stand for a year.  I guess the bad news is that it does not look like it is going to get any better any time soon.  At least it is now March.  There is so much snow on the ground here I could just crap myself, and there just might be another snowstorm coming on Tuesday.  It is all just getting to be too much for me.

I guess it is not bad for everyone.  Deals Gap opened up yesterday, so folks should be having a good time down there.  Bike Week is underway in Daytona so folks should be having a good time down there as well.  I can look forward to seeing the races next weekend on the television, and then the weekend after that starts the season for MotoGP.  Maybe after that the weather will improve and I can start riding this new motorcycle that has been sitting in my garage for so long.

Easyriders Motorcycle Show, Columbus, Ohio

Posted on by 0 comment

I did not take the big drive to Columbus to see the Easyriders Motorcycle Show, but lucky for us, Nick went down and sent me some pictures.  I really don’t get that interested in choppers, but I would have gone if it had been closer to home.  Round trip I am looking at 6 or 7 hours of driving to go to that one, and I am not really interested enought to spend the time or the gas money to make the trip.

Ride Ohio forum is a huge success!

Posted on by 0 comment

I have to say that Ride Ohio is a huge success! We have a great group of folks on the forum and I can honestly say it is my favorite forum on the interwebs!

If anyone out there has interest in starting a forum similar to this for the state they live in send me an email and I will set something up for you. In order for something like this to work you will need to have some good folks to act as moderators.

Recently many of the forums on the internet have been purchased by companies looking to make money off them. This really disturbs me because I do not feel the forum is actually owned by the administrator of the forum. The thing that makes these forums valuable is the information that is posted in them, and that information was posted and created by the users of the forum. If these forums are sold, it is the users that should profit from the sale.

If these companies continued to operate the forum the same as they had been operated I would have not problem with it, but they plaster the board with advertisements. I don’t mind a few banner advertisements if it supports the operation of the site, but these guys always go way overboard on the advertising and it becomes very distracting. Of course, their goal is no longer just to provide a forum, it is now to make a profit.

The most amazing thing about the internet to me is the fact that it gives a voice to most anyone who wants to speak up. For the first time in the history of free speech we all actually have the means to use this right. The idea of companies and corporations purchasing these forums puts us right back where we used to be, with corporations having control of our free speech.
