Easyriders Motorcycle Show, Columbus, Ohio

I did not take the big drive to Columbus to see the Easyriders Motorcycle Show, but lucky for us, Nick went down and sent me some pictures.  I really don’t get that interested in choppers, but I would have gone if it had been closer to home.  Round trip I am looking at 6 or 7 hours of driving to go to that one, and I am not really interested enought to spend the time or the gas money to make the trip.

If I were going to ride a custom this is the type of bike I would prefer.  Some of them are just so flashy that they look kind of gawdy to me.  This is a nice looking bike to me.

This one also caught my eye.  It does get a little bit silly with the exhaust and the handlebars, but at least the bike flows.

Here is a nice example of a custom that you could actually ride.

I guess I am drawn to this one because it is a little different also.  A tastefull amount of chrome, but still not something that would be very rideable.  I know thats really not what these bikes are about, but to me a bike is made to ride.  A bike that is not fun to ride is just not very attractive to me.

It kind of looks like the used a drag racing frame on this one.  There are three main things that attract chopper people:  Flames, Chrome, and Skulls.  It seems that for a chopper to be successfull it must have one of those three items.

It seems like some folks are starting to get tired of the “fat tire” thing.  It was beginning to get a little silly.  At first putting a fat rear tire on looked pretty good.  Then everyone had to start trying to outdo the next guy and before you know it they just start looking silly.  Maybe now they will start seeing who can put the skinniest tire on the back!

I have to say that I am a little bit partial to this one!

I would probably be more willing to make the long drive if there were more bikes like the one above to look at.  Maybe it is just because I am not a chopper guy, but I kind of fall into the “If you have seen one chopper you have seen them all” crowd.
